Content steaming platform, Netflix, is testing cheaper plans in the country. With the lowest ever cost offered by the platform, Netflix is testing a series of weekly plans which starts from Rs 65. To attract customers, Netflix is currently offering a free 30-day trial period for it new subscribers.
The new plans on Netflix India’s website lists the weekly mobile-only plan Along with the Rs 65 weekly plan(for mobile-only usage), there are also three other weekly plans including – basic plan for Rs 125, Standard plan(two screens allowed) for Rs. 165 and Premium plan for Rs 200(four screens in 4k). However, the mobile-only plan(Rs. 65 weekly) does not offer shows in HD or 4K quality. The other three plans are just the weekly version of the regular monthly plans you subscribe to. This means the basic plan offers HD content on two screens whereas the Premium/Ultra plan offers UltraHD content on four screens.
This could be a move that could take on competitors like Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar etc in India. The monthly plans are still available for users which are as follows: Basic plan(standard definition supporting 1 device) for RS. 500, a Standard plan(high definition allowing to stream simultaneously on 2 devices) for Rs.650 and a Premium plan(Ultra HD which can stream simultaneously on four devices) for Rs.800.
