When it comes to lapboard, we generally see a mechanical keyboard and a built-in mouse placed on a piece of plank which you can use it on your lap. Corsair, a popular gaming peripheral manufacturer, is trying something new with its latest lapboard dubbed Corsair K83.
With Corsair K83 Wireless Lapboard, the company has replaced both the aspect with low-profile keys and a built-in joystick. The joystick on the K83 Lapboard is what makes this keyboard unique. Considering these two aspects, the product seems to be made for Smart TVs and streaming media players, working as a command centre.
Although Corsair has put a massive emphasis on the keyword “Gaming” while introducing this product. Corsair K83 wireless lapboard is what you can say a casual gaming keyboard for your living room.
Corsair K83 Wireless Lapboard: Specifications, Features
Speaking of appearance, the Corsair’s latest attempt features a laptop-style 76-key keyboard along with a joystick, two shoulder buttons and a trackpad that supports up to four-finger gestures in Windows 10. As mentioned earlier, the company this time has went with the low-profile membrane scissor switches. The keyboard is definitely backlit but there is no individual RGB LED for each key, just like we see with other Corsair keyboards.
Coming to the connectivity, the keyboard supports both Bluetooth as well as a 2.4GHz USB dongle which is included. Corsair is claiming a massive battery life of 40 hours on a single charge via Micro USB cable. If you’re not aware, Corsair previously tried to make a keyboard work in the context of a living room couch with its ultra-expensive Lapdog.

Unlike K83 lapboard, you’ll have to use your own existing keyboard and mouse with Lapdog. This means that for USD 119.99 (roughly INR 7,800), all you were getting was a huge chunk of plastic which will sit on your lap. In comparison, the latest K83 seems like a much more successful attempt.
When it comes to pricing, Corsair K83 is going to cost you a little lesser than the previous Lapdog which is a good thing. Corsair K83 wireless lapboard is priced at USD 99.99 (roughly INR 7,000) and is currently up for grabs in a limited market. As far as we know, there is no update on whether the product will hit the Indian shore or not. Even if it did, it is most likely to be priced much higher than the 7k bracket.
