It’s been a while since we posted an article on our website. I’ve been caught up with a lot of stuff lately that I couldn’t give enough attention to the blog. But, that’s about to end. I promise. Today, we’re back with yet another Zenfone smartphone review. This time we have Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro with us.
We have reviewed almost every single Asus devices including Zenfone AR. To be honest, Asus has drastically improved their smartphones over the year. From software experience to cameras, their refined smartphones are way better now. AsusZenfone 4 Selfie Pro is the top-end offering of this series which is priced at Rs. 23,999. The device is available via Flipkart in three different colours – Black, Gold and Red. Although I am not a fan of the Gold colour but this device still looks pretty good in it.
Before jumping to the review, why not look at the specifications?

Build & Design
By far, Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is one of the most alluring Zenfones I have ever used. At 7mm thin, it is hand friendly without being hefty. Now the interesting thing here is that this device is .9mm thinner than the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie despite having better specs. The in-hand feel of this device is pretty amazing and I literally got dozens of compliments about its design factor.
It’s got a very slim all-metal body, a manageable 5.5-inch full HD display with curved Corning Gorilla Glass and a pretty nice yet simple design. Weighing just at 147g, it offers an appealing look and a good grip. There is a narrow bezel along the curved sides which enhances the overall design of the smartphone.
On the rear panel, we have a camera beside an LED flash followed by an Asus branding logo engraved in the centre. The antenna lines on top and bottom parts sandwich the rest of matte back cover. There are a volume rocker and a power button on the right which offers a good feedback.
In terms of design, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is a great device which looks premium and is built solidly. Leaving the old design behind and moving to the whole other road seems to be a good choice for the brand. Asus now finally offers something you would like to flaunt in public.
The Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro touts a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a solid 401 PPI density. The colours and saturation strike a balance that is neither an overbearing nor lacking. It is capable of producing crisp colour reproduction offering great viewing angles too. Thanks to the AMOLED tech, the display can also be calibrated.
The icons on the display look sharp and come out looking great and balanced. Also, the sunlight legibility of the phone is good thanks to the auto-brightness settings which work as a charm. The overall experience while watching movies, playing games was a delight on this smartphone. Kudos to Asus for doing such a great job in the display here.
The camera department is one of the highlights of the Zenfone 4 Series. Selfie Pro comes with the whopping 24MP front-facing dual camera lens. The setup consists of a 24MP DuoPixel lens of aperture f/1.8 and a 5MP wide-angle lens of aperture f/2.2. For the rear, the smartphone makes use of 16MP Sony IMX 351 camera sensor with LED flash.
Although the concept of dual front cameras is no longer new to us, taking selfies on Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is still a fun experience. It has face tracking, HDR, Selfie Panorama and a beauty mode. There is also a portrait mode if you want a selfie with an artificially blurred background. Thanks to the wide angle feature, you can now click group selfies with ease. Beauty Live feature which was introduced with the Zenfone Live is now available on every Zenfone including this one.

Rear cameras, on the other hand, can produce good details and accurate colours but gets peppered with noise when there is not enough light. The selfie camera is also capable of taking videos in 4K quality at 30fps. Both the front as well as the rear camera works just fine with the good amount of details and colours. Let the sample shots speak for itself.
Software and Performance
Running the Selfie Pro is the Android 7.1.1 Nougat with ZenUI 4.0. And most likely this device will receive the Android Oreo update in near future. The good news, Asus got rid of its bloatware with ZenUI 4.0 making the UI cleaner, simplified and more material than before. Although you will still find some pre-installed applications like Facebook, Instagram and Messenger which I guess are not much of a problem.
Storage wise, the smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory which is also expandable via MicroSD card. The device comes with hybrid sim slot meaning you can either go with dual sim cards or one sim + one SD card. On top of that, with every Asus smartphone, you get 100GB of Gdrive storage for 1 year at no extra cost. Most of the user will not face any storage issues.
Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset combined with Adreno 506 which manages to give you pretty decent performance. I am a user who falls in the middle of moderate and heavy and I didn’t face any single issue with the device. We also did some benchmarks on this device and the results are good.
Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro comes packed with 3000 mAh battery inside which is not that extraordinary. Although, I was still able to run this device for the whole day on moderate usage. For heavy users, you might want to carry a power bank with you. On my regular usage, I basically run social media apps, watch movies, songs, YouTube, Checking emails, connected to mobile data, WiFi, GPS and little amount of games. And with that much use, I was able to get one day juice easily.
Unfortunately, there is still no quick charging support for this device. Asus really needs to do something about it. Their smartphones do not come with Quick Charging which in my opinion is a must feature especially at this price range. You do get fast charging but it is not that fast.
Now, let’s get back to the question which you desperately want us to answer. Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro is overall a great device. Personally, I love the design factor here a lot. The display on this device is just amazing and is great for watching movies. The only downside, the camera is not that up to point. I mean the whole wheel feature of the smartphone is the camera which in my opinion is not that great. Battery life is okayish.
In short, this device is a great catch. I literally had the best experience while using it. If you’re like me who can compromise on Camera part a little then go ahead get this bad boy without a doubt.
