Facebook and Messenger are not the only which are getting either a new design or some fresh features. At Facebook F8’s conference, Mark Zuckerberg talked about some of the cool features which are coming to your Instagram very soon. From AR filters to Bully Filter feature, the founder of Facebook wants to improve user experience as well as the security of the Instagram.
We decided to list all the changes coming to your Instagram application very soon. So, let’s get started.
1. Video chat feature. Finally!
Instagram is planning to add a video chat option to its messaging platform. With the help of this feature, the user will be able to talk to one or more people. You can minimize the chat screen to use the feature while also scrolling through Instagram.
“You’re going to be able to just tap on a new camera icon in the top of any direct thread that you have and you’re going to be able to video chat one-on-one or with groups,” Zuckerberg explained.
Video chat feature is still in the testing phase and Instagram will soon roll out the update globally soon.
2. Augmented Reality
Instagram will now have the Augmented Reality effects platform which has already been on Facebook for about a year. You will now be able to create custom AR filters with the help of AR studio. It allows brands to create their very own filters for the users ultimately increasing the filters library of the current Instagram.
Instagram is debuting this feature in partnership with Ariana Grande, BuzzFeed, Kylie Jenner, and the NBA, among others. This means that you will now be able to see and use the filters developed by the above-mentioned brands. This feature includes both face filters as well as World filters. In world filters, the app will switch to rear camera mode allowing you to add AR objects.
This feature has already been rolled out to various users and will be available to others soon.
3. Refreshed Explore and improved Stories
The developers are also working on improving the user experience of their application. The explore section of Instagram is now getting refreshed not in terms of design but in categories. Users will now have the option to choose different topic channels – like photography or animals – to find new images and users to follow. This feature is a great addition to the Instagram explore section making it easier for you to discover new content which interests you.
Apart from that, Instagram is also improving the way you share stories with your followers. After this new update, you will be able to use third-party integrations like Go Pro and Spotify. For instance, if you want to share the song which you’re currently listening to on Spotify you can do so easily right from the Spotify instead of posting a screenshot.
4. Integration of Bullying Filter
All the above upcoming changes look promising for increasing UI experience but what about the security? Instagram has come up with a feature called Bullying Filter to make it a safe place for users. This new feature makes use of Machine Learning to find out the languages which are considered as harassment. Bullying Filter will censor those words which according to it sounds offensive. You will also have an option to turn off this feature from the settings inside “Comment Control” section.
From all the above-listed features some of them has already made its way to the app while others are still in testing phase. Let us know whenever you’ll receive the update by sending us an email.
